30 km from Bhuj is the crumbling sun temple. Set amidst the ruins of an old city, and dating from the 9th century, its original grandeur is still evident. Built-in the Khajuraho style, features of splendid architecture and sculpture remain. Worth noting are the nine patrons of the planets over the lintel and a circle of sixteen intertwined figures carrying sticks. The shrine door is impressive, as the six pilasters at the entrance to the temple.
